McKay Creek National Wildlife Refuge

Open March – Sept. late winter/early spring, look for Bald Eagle, waterfowl, grebes, gulls. Spring and summer: American White Pelican, gulls, tems. Mudflats (mid-August through Sept.): Migrating shorebirds: Western, Least, Baird’s. Semipalmated and Pectoral Sandpipers, both Yellowlegs, Semipalmated Plover and occasional Sanderling, Stilt, and Solitary Sandpipers Upland areas: Bullock’s Oriole, Bewick’s Wren, Eastern Kingbird, Say’s Phoebe.
